About Us

GCRE was established in 1968 under what was then called the Race Relations Board. In 1976, following the passing of the Race Relations Act, the organisation was formally constituted by the newly formed Commission for Racial Equality.

We have 13 staff of diverse heritage directly employed but also works with a number of community volunteers and Consultants who have a wide range of expertise and languages. Our diverse membership, volunteers and consultants together represent about 44 different community groups and helps ensure we are able to work within all communities, drawing on the relevant skills and expertise required. We have also been awarded the ‘Quality Mark’ by the Legal Services Commission.

Our organisation is registered under the Charities Act 1993 and has charitable status. Audited accounts are available for inspection.
